Mr Sizwe Khoza

Sizwe Khoza

Project Coordinator, Science Communication Division

Mr Sizwe Khoza  is a Project Coordinator responsible for the leadership and coordination of the DST Priority Areas Public Engagement Programme managed by the Science Communication Division at the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA). In this role, he frequently engages with various stakeholders to ensure that societal benefit through the DST priority research areas is maximised by driving broad-based and high quality public engagement in these areas. Mr Khoza holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Chemistry and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management and Administration from the University Stellenbosch, respectively.

The priority areas public engagement programme managed by SAASTA on behalf of DST include the Hydrogen South Africa (HySA) Public Awareness, Demonstration and Education Platform, the Nanotechnology Public Engagement Programme and the Public Understanding of Biotechnology. The main aim of the programme is to promote credible, fact-based understanding of priority research areas through dialogue, education and engagement that will enable informed decision-making on related technological innovations amongst local and international stakeholders. The programmes also aim to entice and inspire the next generation scientists towards science, technology, engineering, mathematics and innovation (STEMI) careers, especially those in the priority areas.

 Ms Kedibone Monyebodi 

Project Officer

Kedibone Monyebodi

Project Officer, Science Communication Division

Ms Kedibone Monyebodi is a Project Officer within the Science Communication Division at the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) focusing mainly on the science engagement of the DST priority research areas. She joined SAASTA after completing the DST│NRF Internship programme before her appointment as a Project Officer in 2015. Ms Monyebodi holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biotechnology from the University of Limpopo and currently studying towards her Honours Degree in Environmental Science Management from the University of South Africa. She completed a Science Communication course with the University of Stellenbosch in 2015.

Ms Zamahlubi Radebe 

 Project Officer

Zamahlubi Radebe

Project Officer, Science Communication Division

Ms Zamahlubi Radebe is a Project Officer within the Science Communication Division at the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) focusing mainly on the science engagement of the DST priority research areas. She joined SAASTA as a National Youth Service Volunteer in 2017 before her appointment as a project officer in April 2019. Ms Radebe holds a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Hydrology and Microbiology from the University of Zululand with plans of registering for Honours at the University of South Africa in the near future. She is looking forward to advancing the departmental objectives with her acquired skills in science as well as communication and furthermore bringing innovative ideas to the organisation.

Ms Boniswa Maka 

 Volunteer

Boniswa Maka

National Youth Service Volunteer, Science Communication Division

Ms Boniswa Maka joined the Science Communication Division at the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) in July 2019 as a Volunteer under the DSI National Youth Service Programme. Ms Maka is part of a vibrant team that is responsible for the implementation of science engagement projects linked to the priority research areas. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of the Free State. Ms Maka is looking forward to bringing her knowledge and new ideas to the team and working with the team to learn and acquire new skills whilst at SAASTA. The priority areas public engagement programmes, managed by SAASTA on behalf of DSI, include the Hydrogen South Africa (HySA) Public Awareness, Demonstration and Education Platform, the Nanotechnology Public Engagement Programme and the Public Understanding of Biotechnology. The main aim of the priority areas public engagement programme is to promote credible, fact-based understanding of priority research areas through dialogue, education and engagement that will enable informed decision making on related technological innovations amongst local and international stakeholders. The programme also aim to entice learners and undergraduate students – the next generation scientists and engineers – to pursue science, technology, engineering, mathematics and innovation (STEMI) careers, especially those in the priority areas.
